Janet Murphy
Janet Murphy's recent West End theatre credits include Madame Giry in the stage musical The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre, London. Janet gained a diploma in acting, singing and dance from Studio '68 Drama College in London and has continued her vocal studies with Howard Charles. Janet made her operatic debut with English Touring Opera singing the role of Omnibus. Other roles performed include Major Lillian Ceneretola, a role she went on to perform with Opera Holiday in Happy End, Maurya in Riders To The Sea and The Sorceress for Opera Milton Keynes, Macellina in Marriage of Figaro with English Touring Opera, Pitti Sing in The Mikado and Suzuki in Madame Butterfly for Crystal Clear Opera, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus for London City Opera on their 1999 USA Tour and Lisinga in Gluck's Le Cinesi for Modern Baroque Opera of Vancouver. She has sung the alto solos in Honneger's King David, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Harmony Mass, Durufle's Requiem in the UK and Mendelsohn's Elijah in Budapest. | |
