Sam trained at Guildford School of Acting, where he was awarded the school's singing cup.

West End credits include covering and playing Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), Grantaire and cover Javert in Les Misérables (Palace Theatre); Hugo and cover Alex Dillingham in Aspects of Love (Prince of Wales); Weber in Miss Saigon (Theatre Royal, Dury Lane); Reuban in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Labatts Apollo); Jack in Review (London Palladium).
