Ruthie Henshall
Ruthie Henshall's recent West End theatre credits include playing the title role in the stage musical version of Peggy Sue Got Married at The Shaftesbury Theatre. Ruthie graduated in Musical Theatre from Laine Theatre Arts, Surrey and was cast straight into the UK tour of A Chorus Line. This was followed by a varied run in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats at the New London Theatre and Cameron Mackintosh's Miss Saigon at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Ruthie was chosen to play the leading role of Polly in the London premier of Crazy For You. For her next leading role as Amalia Balash in the London revival of She Loves Me at the Savoy Theatre, she won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Ruthie recreated her leading role in Crazy for You in Toronto with the legendary Mickey Rooney playing her father, followed by a run as Nancy in Cameron Mackintosh's Oliver! After returning to Chichester to play Polly in Divorce Me Darling, she was cast as Roxie in the original London cast of Kander and Ebb's, Ruthie then made her New York debut in the Broadway version of Chicago by switching roles to Velma! Ruthie's television credits include guest roles in Deadline and Law and Order for NBC, Mysteries of 71st Street for CBS, and Get Back for the BBC. Ruthie was recently awarded The Theatregoers Club of Great Britain award for most popular musical actress of the last twenty-one years. | |
