Claire Hammacott

Claire Hammacott's recent West End theatre credits include playing Christine (Alternate) in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre.

Born in Swansea, Claire graduated from the Welsh College of Music and Drama in 1992.

Opera roles include Drusilla in L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring and Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro. Claire has performed numerous concert and oratorio works throughout Britain, has made several recordings for BBC Radio 3 and has completed a televised opera masterclass with Dame Joan Hammond for HTV Wales.

In 1993, Claire made her professional decut in a tour of La Gioconda with Opera North. Since then she has appeared in Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens at the Library Theatre Manchester, given a series of concerts at the International Festival of Music in Caracus, Venezuela and appeared in a National Tour of The Musicals. Claire returns to The Phantom of the Opera having understudied and played Carlotta in the original Manchester and Edinburgh productions. Subsequently she understudied and played both Christine and Carlotta at Her Majesty's Theatre after appearing in Les Misérables at the Palace Theatre, London.
