Lee David Bowen
Lee David Bowen recently played the role of Ubaldo Piangi in the musical The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre in London. Lee was born in Swansea and originally trained as a chef. He later studied performing arts at Gorseinon College, Swansea then at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, with Eric Roberts. Since finishing his studies in Cardiff, 1999, Lee has made the change from baritone to a tenor and has gone on to study with Adrian Thompson. In his short time Lee has played the roles of Florello in Rossini's The Barber of Seville, and the Innkeeper in Verdi's Falstaff, at the Peacock Theatre with British Youth Opera, Summer 1999. He then went on to work with English Touring Opera on their winter tour playing the Herald in Verdi's Macbeth. Lee has just completed a second tour where he played the roles of Dancario in Bizet's Carmen and Sellem in Stravinsky's The Rakes Progress. Lee's other operatic roles include Papagaeno in Mozarts The Magic Flute and Thomas Bouche in Kurt Weill's Down In the Valley. Lee has performed as a soloist in works such as Faure Requiem, he has also performed regularly as a soloist at Cardiff's St David Hall alongside soloists such as Julian Lloyd Webber. Lee has also trained as an actor and has appeared in numerous plays including The Women of Troy and The Canterbury Tale. | |
