Rosemary Ashe
Rosemary Ashe's recent West End credits include playing the role of Madame Thénardier in Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre and the role of Felicia in The Witches of Eastwick at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and the Prince of Wales Theatre. Rosemary trained at the Royal Academy of Music and the London Opera Centre and studies vocal technique with Joy Mammen. Rosemary's other West End credits include: Yum Yum in The Metropolitan Mikado (South Bank), Hortense in The Beyond (Albery), Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty’s), Manon in Bitter Sweet (Sadler’s Wells), Forbidden Broadway (Fortune), Cunegonde in Candide (The Old Vic), Ellen in What About Luv? (Holland Park), Madame Thénardier in Les Misérables (Palace Theatre) and Widow Corney in Oliver! (London Palladium). For the RSC/Opera North, Rosie played Julie Laverne in Show Boat, The Witch in Into The Woods, Annie in Annie Get Your Gun, Lottie Grady in When We Are Married and Orinthia in The Applecart (all at the Wolsey, Ipswich); Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Barbados Festival); The Old Bag in The Gingerbread Man (Birmingham Hippodrome); the national tour of Salad Days, Mrs Darling in Peter Pan (Theatre Royal, Nottingham); and Madame Spritzer in 13 Rue de L’amour (Theatre Royal, Nottingham); More recently Rosie appeared in Spend, Spend, Spend (West Yorkshire Playhouse); playing the lead role of Viv Nicholson, as Dottie Otley in Noises Off (Playhouse Theatre, Salisbury); and Dangerous Cabaret (Jermyn Street Theatre). Operatic roles include: Esmerelda in The Bartered Bride, Venus in Orpheus in The Underworld, Papagena in The Magic Flute, Fiakermilli in Arabella and Zou Zou in La Belle Vivette (all for the English National Opera). Also Helene in La Belle Helene (New Sadler’s Wells Opera), Musetta in La Bohème, (Opera Northern Ireland), Frasquita in Carmen (Earls Court and Japanese tour), Josephine in HMS Pinafore (City Centre, New York), Clorinda in La Cenerentola (Garsington Festival) and Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti (Belgian tour). Television includes: The House of Elliot, The Music Game, Whale On, The Garden of Evelyn, Lucy Locket in The Beggar’s Opera and Despina in Cosi fan tutte (both directed by Jonathan Miller for the BBC).
