Joanna Ampil
Joanna Ampil recently played the role of 'Fantine' in the musical Les Miserables at London's Queen's Theatre. Born in Manila, Philippines, Joanna's other theatre credits include Kim in Miss Saigon (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and the 10th Anniversary performance, Capitol Theatre, Sydney premiere, UK and Ireland tour premiere), Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar (Lyceum Theatre), Princess Jasmine in Aladdin (Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage), Eponine in Les Misérables (Palace Theatre). Concert appearances include Eliza Dolittle in a tribute to My Fair Lady, Miss Saigon's record breaking performance (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), Eponine in Les Misérables Concert 2001 (Odyssey Arena, Belfast), Festive Brass and Voices (Ulster Hall, Belfast), New Year's Concert with Niklas Andersson (Confidencen, Stockholm), Night of a 1000 Stars (London Palladium), Showtime at the Stadium (Millennium Stadium, Cardiff), Stig Rossen & RUO Concert (Circus Building, Copenhagen), In Celebration of Musical Theatre (Singapore), Stars of the Musicals (Stadium Putra, Kuala Lumpur), One Enchanted Evening (Odyssey Arena, Belfast), East Meets West (CCP Main Theatre, Manila), Carols in the Domain (Sydney), Philippine Centennial Celebration (Expo-Filipino Clark), Birmingham Hippodrome's 100th Birthday (Birmingham Hippodrome), Peter Corry Concert (Grand Theatre, Belfast). Joanna has guest appeared in numerous radio and television shows globally. Joanna's recordings include Kim in the Complete International Symphonic Recording of Miss Saigon, Mary Magdalene in the new recording of Jesus Christ Superstar, Stars of the Musicals album, Sydney's Spirit of Christmas Album '95, If You Were Mine - Crusaid Album. Also recorded as guest in several albums for other international artists. Joanna received an Australian Mo Award nomination for Best Female Musical Theatre Performer in 1995 for her role in Miss Saigon. Was once part of an R'n'B/Gospel band in the UK called United Colours of Sound.
