Casey Affleck
Casey Affleck made his West End stage debut in This Is Our Youth at the Garrick Theatre. Casey Affleck made his acting debut at a young age in the PBS presentation of Lemon Sky, and as Bobby Kennedy in the ABC mini series The Kennedys of Massachusetts. He launched his film career in 1995 playing Russell, in Gus Van Sant Jr's critically acclaimed To Die For, alongside Nicole Kidman and Joaquin Phoenix. Whilst continuing his acting career Mr Affleck studied at Columbia University in New York. In 1996 he appeared in Race the Sun, and in 1997 in Gus Van Sant's Academy Award Winning Good Will Hunting. Mr Affleck then landed major roles in two films: Morgan Freeman's Desert Blue (1998), in which he starred with Christina Ricci, and Risa Bramon Garcia's 200 Cigarettes (1999), in which he appeared as a soft hearted punk alongside Kate Hudson. In 2000 Mr Affleck took the role of Fortinbras in Michael Almereyda's Hamlet with Ethan Hawke and Bill Murray. He also appeared in Lisa Krueger's Commited with Heather Graham, and took the lead in Nick Gomez's Drowning Mona co-starring with Danny DeVito and Bette Midler. In 2001 Mr Affleck's career continued to unfold with Soul Survivors, playing opposite Wes Bentley, and 2002 has seen him as one of Ocean's Eleven in the blockbuster hit of the same name. He will soon be seen in the title role of Gus Van Sant's Gerry opposite Matt Damon which they also co-wrote. Mr Affleck would like to thank the Bear for a lovely match. | |
